11 Quick & Easy Crochet Christmas Garland Patterns

Christmas is my favorite time to make crochet projects. I recently made a tree with ONLY crochet decorations; it was my favorite project to date. I searched all over for crochet Christmas garland patterns that I could use for my tree. Many of these projects can also be substitutes for ornaments if not strung together.

Garland is a fun project for beginners. It’s usually a repeated stitch, and if you pick a project with a stitch you can easily make, you have a garland! Garland works for different holidays; you can make a fun garland for Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, or Halloween. I love the idea of having different garland strung around my house throughout the year.

Crochet Star Garland

Last Christmas, I made these stars without the garland part for my “Crochet-Only Christmas Tree,” and they worked perfectly. Use twine to string them together! The pattern uses cotton yarn for stability, but I suggest starching so they stay in the proper shape. You need to know some beginner stitches, such as single crochet, double crochet, and half-double crochet.

Flat Christmas Tree Garland

Here is another garland that I turned into an ornament. I LOVE the look of these adorable flat Christmas trees. The zig-zag bean stitch makes the perfect texture for these. They’d be a bit boring otherwise. You can whip these up fast, too!

Chunky & Fast Christmas Garland

Whether you want to drape this garland over your mantel or around your Christmas tree, this pattern uses super chunky yarn (size 6), so it will work up fast. You can use one or two colors – I love the two colors! It’s one of the easiest crochet Christmas garland patterns you can make.

Chunky Bobble Crochet Garland

Get ready to bobble stitch like you’ve never bobble stitched before. This is the crochet Christmas garland pattern I chose for my Christmas tree, and I loved the simplicity. It was a bit mindless, but it’s great for beginners and looks GREAT on the tree!

Popcorn and Cranberry Crochet Garland

This is SUCH a cute Christmas garland idea. It uses bulky yarn and red beads to create the classic look of popcorn and cranberries. It’s a very beginner-friendly pattern with the same stitch repeated.

Crochet Gingerbread Garland

Is there really anything that screams Christmas like gingerbread? This pattern creates little brown hearts with white edging. Then, you can take white beads and embellish the gingerbread hearts as you want. Get creative with it!

Christmas Tree and Star Crochet Garland

Everyone loves a stash-buster project, and since you can use multiple colors to create these trees and stars, you could eliminate scraps. The pattern shows how to make the trees and stars. You could skip the garland part and use these for Christmas ornaments instead!

Vintage Half Doily Christmas Garland

I would never think of making a half doily for a garland, but it works well here. The pattern is a total stash buster; you could use various colors. If you can work a half-double crochet, then this pattern is possible for you. It’s fast and easy to make!

Crochet Tinsel Garland

Do you want to skip the fake tinsel this year? It’s pretty bad for the environment, and it gets EVERYWHERE in your home. Try a crochet tinsel garland instead. This pattern is more for intermediate crocheters. You have to make a chain of over 800 and use a process of looping repeatedly. However, it’s such a cool design and worth trying!

Mini Crochet Ball Garland Pattern

This Mini crochet ball garland would look SO cute on a Christmas tree! You could use so many colors, like the multi-color lights. This pattern is a bit tedious because you need to make each ball separately and weave (or tie tightly and cut – which is what I would do!) the ends. The pattern looks easy overall and would be easily adapted for all holidays!

Circle Crochet Holiday Garland

You could also make this circle crochet Christmas garland in any color you want, perfect for multiple seasons. The pattern only uses one type of stitch, so it’s great for a beginner. I may want to make this for Easter as well!
