14 Gifts for Gardeners in 2018

Christmas is upon us. That means you have several weeks ahead to plan and purchase all of the gifts for your loved ones. If your loved ones are gardeners, I have a list of some fantastic gifts they will LOVE!

It’s no secret that I love gardening, which is why half of the posts on my blog are gardening based. I bet you have a friend or family member who loves gardening as much as I do. Lucky for us, gardeners aren’t without options, and you can surprise your loved ones with some thoughtful and useful gifts.

The key is making sure the gift serves a purpose, along with being utterly awesome. All of my tools or accessories are useful, even if it’s just to mark a specific plant in my garden. I’m sure your gardeners are the same way.

So, I spent hours listing the items I use and researching ones that provide exceptional value and usefulness for gardeners. Best of all, most of these are on Amazon Prime, so they can be on your doorstep in 2 days. I’m the queen of last minute gift buying, even for my kids.

  1. Hori Hori Garden Knife

First up on my list of gifts for gardeners is the Hori Hori Garden Knife. Check out those reviews – they are SOLID! Why? Because Hori Hori is really a fantastic gardening knife.

A garden knife is a versatile tool. The Hori Hori allows you to weed, dig, prune, transplant, measure, cut, and harvest. It is made with high-grade stainless steel and a thick, handle. The knife arrives pre-sharpened, so you can use it immediately. Hori Hori includes a free sharpening stone.

  2. Garden Hod

No matter if your loved one is a veggie gardener or prefers fresh flowers, they will harvest from the garden. A garden hod is essentially a gathering basket, but it works better than a typical basket because of the mesh screen. It allows all of the dirt and small bits to fall through outside before you bring it inside. You also can keep the veggies in the basket and rinse outside. These are top-quality, lasting for years to come.

  3. Vremi 9-Piece Garden Tool Set

You can’t garden without tools. For the longest time, I just purchase the really cheap tools at Walmart, and I wondered why I had to replace them several times a year. The handles broke, most often. That’s a bummer when you’re in the middle of planting a bed of tomatoes. Trust me.

I like the Vremi set. The set includes a trowel shovel, rake hoe, weeder, spade, cultivator, pruning shears, a watering bottle, and a pair of gloves. You also get a multi-compartment tote for storing the tools. My favorite part of the tools are the comfort grip handles and the rust-resistant aluminum. Considering the price isn’t insane, they do stand up well to wear and tear.

  4. Metal Plant Markers

When you grow an abundance of plants, markers come in handy. You need to be able to tell what varieties are where, and markers are the way to go. These metal markers are made in the USA, and each set has 15 markers made with galvanized steel wires and zinc nameplates.

The zinc marker creates a writable surface. They are waterproof and can be used indoors and outdoors. The set comes with a black marking pencil to label them. You can also use a permanent marker. Many gardeners plant the same things over and over, so that isn’t a bad thing!

  5. Potting Bench

I love this! Dura-Tel makes a potting bench with PVC vinyl. So, it’s maintenance free. It won’t crack, fade, peel, or discolor. Dura-Tel even offers a 20-year warranty! Impressive.
Any gardener would love a dedicated spot in their garden with a stand, where they can transfer seedlings, prune plants, and set all of their harvested goodies. I know I would.

  6. Herb Drying Rack

Instead of stringing herbs up all over the kitchen, why not try an herb drying rack? This rack from Pro Chef lets you hang up to 18 things, whether its clothes or herbs. You can hang the rack off of a hook and dry all of your herbs in one place!

  7. Cast Iron Twine & Spring Spool Holder

As a gardener, I find myself using twine a lot. I might be holding up tomato plants or creating a makeshift lattice for my pea plants. Twine and I have a loving relationship. So, when I saw this twine spool holder I instantly fell in love. It combines beauty and usefulness together.

The holder measures 10″ tall, the perfect size for your kitchen or garden. A pair of scissors come with it as well.

  8. Butterfly Easy-Read Metal and Glass Garden Rain Gauge

I love gifts that combine practicality and beauty. This rain gauge will measure up to 7 inches of rainwater, which allows you to decide if you need to water or not! Plus, it doubles as a really cute decoration for your garden bed!

  9. Pine Tree Tools Bamboo Working Gloves

The Pine Tree Tools gloves are made bamboo, which will keep your hands cool. Bamboo absorbs perspiration; it’s a breathable material. Your hands will stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. These are some of the top rated gardening gloves on the market. Gardeners love them!

  10. Forup Mini Greenhouse

A greenhouse is a fantastic investment, but they’re super pricey. Instead, get your friend a mini greenhouse. They’re perfect for germinating and raising seedlings. It’s large enough that you can hold several trays of seeds or a few pots. Yet, it’s small enough that you can keep it on your patio or balcony without it being in the way.

  11. MasontopsMason Jar Fermentation Kit

    [the_ad id=”2597″]
Does your gardening friend also like to preserve the veggies that she grows? If so, this fermentation kit makes it so easy! The kit includes silicone airlocks, a vegetable pounder, glass weights, and a recipe book. It’s so nice! I love the glass weights because, before I used them, I didn’t know what to use to hold down the food under the brine that was safe.

  12. Back to the Roots Organic Mushroom Kit

    [the_ad id=”2599″]
Growing mushrooms isn’t something that everyone does. It can be a bit tricky. This fun set is in the top gifts for 2018, and it lets you grow gourmet oyster mushrooms in 10 days. Seriously! It’ll give your gardener friend a taste – literally – of what it’s like to grow mushrooms at home.

  13. Green & Copper Galvanized Steel Watering Can

I mean, look how cute this thing is! The colors fit in perfectly with the rustic decor. It reminds me of old-time gardening with those copper accents. This watering can has an ergonomic design and a lightweight metal design to help with transport. It’s built to last, so your gift will last for years to come. Best Choice added a weather-resistant coating to prevent water damage and rust.
